Fat Transfer

Achieving the ideal proportions and reducing stubborn fat in certain areas of the body can prove to be a difficult or even impossible feat in some cases. A fat transfer procedure, or fat grafting, could be the solution.  At JativaMD we can perform a fat transfer, which involves removing the stubborn fat using liposuction and injecting it into desired areas of the body to enhance and contour your physique. Popular places that our patients receive a fat transfer include the breasts, buttocks, face (cheeks and lips), hands, or other parts of the body that need extra volume and shape. The fat is usually removed from areas such as the stomach, thighs, or buttocks to present a slim figure. Our team at JativaMD can meet with you and tailor your fat grafting procedure to your desired goals and body type.

Men and women are turning into us to perform fat transfers to plump cheeks, fill lips, and make the buttocks and breasts fuller and shapelier. Great candidates for a fat transfer:

  • Have areas of the body with enough excess fat for liposuction
  • Have areas of the body that are flat or thin and need volume
  • Are allergic to injectable fillers, such as Radiesse or Voluma
  • Need tissue replenished following a cancer removal surgery
  • Have overall good health
WHAT TO EXPECT

Once you are under local sedation, an instrument called a cannula is inserted into the skin to suction out the fat. Incisions for this procedure are routinely very small and will be easily hidden under clothing. The removed fat is then sorted and purified before being put into a syringe for the transfer. Dr Jativa will inject the fat into the skin and perform a massage so the fat settles smoothly into the needed area. This process may have to be repeated several times, which is also known as a layered fat grafting, for the best results. You will see redness and swelling initially, but fat transfers usually have a downtime of 7 – 10 days and total recovery period of 1 – 2 weeks.
